The week saw President William Ruto host heads of state and other dignitaries for the COMESA summit.
This is even as hundreds of small traders operating along Fig Tree in Nairobi's Ngara area are counting losses after their kiosks were demolished.
On Wednesday, former Baringo Senator and Kanu national chairman Gideon Moi met President William Ruto at State House, Nairobi.
The week also saw health workers under the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) programme hold a peaceful demonstration in Nairobi to push for better terms of service and fulfilment of promises made by the government.

COMESA summit

President William Ruto on Wednesday night hosted at least four heads of state and other dignitaries for dinner at State House, Nairobi, ahead of their summit.
The dinner came ahead of their scheduled 24th COMESA Summit of Heads of State, held at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC).
The Summit is held under the theme: ‘Leveraging digitalization to deepen Regional Value Chains for Sustainable and Inclusive Growth’.
The leaders included Presidents Azali Assoumani (Comoros) and Emmerson Mnangagwa (Zimbabwe), Prime Ministers Russell Mmiso Dlamini (Eswatini), and Mustafa Madbouly (Egypt).
Others were African Union Commission Chair Mahmoud Youssouf
and COMESA Secretary-General Chileshe Mpundu Kapwepwe.


Gideon Moi meets Ruto

Former Baringo Senator and Kanu national chairman Gideon Moi met President William Ruto at State House, Nairobi.
The meeting, reportedly held on Wednesday and made public on Thursday evening, sparked discussion over whether political matters were on the agenda.
Images from the State House meeting showed Moi and a Kanu
delegation alongside President Ruto, with both leaders seen engaging in a
cordial exchange, a development that drew attention given Moi’s earlier
criticism of the President.


Global Fund TB former workers protest

Former workers of the Global Fund Tuberculosis (TB) program on Wednesday, October 8, staged a protest outside the Ministry of Health headquarters, Afya House, in Nairobi.
The group decried what they termed unfair employment terms and delays in their transition into the civil service despite years of dedicated service under the donor-funded initiative.
During the protest, emotions ran high as some of the workers shared their frustrations over the uncertainty surrounding their future.


Ngara demolition

The demolition, said to have happened in the wee hours of
the morning.
Traders led by James Mwangi, the chairperson of the business community, regretted the incident, stating that the area they have been operating in belongs to the Nairobi City County.
