Public Service, Human Capital Development and Special Programmes Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku has urged the Kamba community to rally behind President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza administration, assuring them that the government is inclusive and committed to improving the welfare of all Kenyans.

Speaking in Kathonzweni, Makueni County, CS Ruku expressed concern that parts of the Kamba community risk exclusion from key national decision-making platforms due to continued political allegiance to the opposition.

“It is unfortunate for any community, including a section of the Kamba, to isolate themselves from a government that is inclusive and broad-based. The Kenya Kwanza administration is for all Kenyans, and every community must feel part of it,” Ruku said.

The Cabinet Secretary lauded the Kamba community’s rich political heritage and its leaders’ historical role in shaping Kenya’s governance.

He singled out the late Mulu Mutisya and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, who served as Vice President and held key ministerial positions under Presidents Daniel arap Moi and Mwai Kibaki.

Ruku urged the current generation of Kamba leaders to emulate their predecessors by engaging constructively with the government for the sake of unity and development.

He also faulted opposition figures for pushing divisive political narratives, accusing them of focusing on personal ambition rather than the nation’s progress.

Ruku appealed to all leaders to put aside political differences and unite under one government to advance Kenya’s prosperity.

Turning to food security, the CS assured residents of Makueni and neighboring counties that the government is implementing both short- and long-term strategies to tackle hunger and drought in the region.

He disclosed that his ministry has rolled out a national relief food distribution programme targeting all 23 arid and semi-arid counties.

After inspecting National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) stores, Ruku confirmed that there are adequate food reserves to support vulnerable communities.

Ruku directed National Government Administration Officers (NGAOs) to monitor food needs within their areas and provide timely reports to the Ministry through the State Department for Special Programmes to ensure no household is left behind.

The CS also reminded public servants of their constitutional obligations under Article 232, which outlines key values of public service — including professionalism, efficiency, accountability, equity, and citizen participation in decision-making.

He commended President William Ruto for leading by example in public service delivery, describing him as a hardworking leader committed to serving all Kenyans.

“The President has led by example as the country’s number one public servant. It is now upon all public officers to reflect these values in how they serve the people.
