President William Ruto joined leaders from Northeastern
Kenya in a major fundraiser that collected over Sh163 million to support
madrasas in Mandera County.
The event, held in aid of the Eltabashi Educational Trust,
raised a total of Sh163,218,000 to support ten madrasas in the county.
The President presided over the fundraiser, which drew
leaders, business executives, and residents from across the region.
According to the President, the more accessible education is made
to children, the more prosperous Kenya will become.
He said the fundraiser reaffirms the leaders’ collective
commitment to having an educated society.
“The more education is made accessible to our children, the
more empowered, equal, and prosperous we become. In Nairobi during a fundraiser
in aid of Islamic institutions in Mandera County, we reaffirmed our collective
commitment to education as the foundation of opportunity and progress.
“We applaud the Eltabashi Educational Trust’s dedication to
supporting vulnerable children in Northern Kenya to access education,” Ruto said.
Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale, Governors Ahmed
Abdullahi and Nathif Adam, Senator Ali Roba, as well as Members of Parliament
from Mandera, Garissa, and Wajir counties were among those present.
Also in attendance were Principal Secretaries, CEOs of state
corporations, religious leaders, business leaders, women, and youth
representatives.
Mandera Governor Mohamed Adan expressed gratitude to all who
contributed, noting that the funds will strengthen Islamic education and
community development in Mandera.
“We thank Almighty Allah (SWT) for enabling us to raise Sh163,218,000 for Eltabashi Educational Trust to support ten Madarasas in
Mandera County. Thank you, William Ruto, for your kind gesture,” the governor said.
