Kenyan security personnel under the Multinational Security Support (MSS) mission in Haiti have intensified their operations in various parts of the country.

The officers, backed by those from Haiti and other countries part of the mission, conducted patrols this week at the Port-au-Prince.

The port is Haiti’s main port and the largest seaport in the country, located in the Gulf of Gonave.

It serves as a major hub for the country's import and export activities, including food and clothing, and handles shipping that brings revenue to the city.

It was under the control of criminal gangs operating in a country being reclaimed by MSS.
