The National Police Service Commission (NPSC) has announced fresh recruitment of Police Constables across the country.
The notice, published in a local daily on Friday, September 19, 2025, was signed by Commission Chairperson Peter Leley and outlined the requirements, application procedure and timelines for the exercise.
"The recruitment is being conducted pursuant to the Constitution of Kenya under Articles 246(3), 246(4), 243 and 238(d), as well as sections 10, 11 and 12 of the National Police Service Commission Act Cap 85 and the National Police Service Act Cap 84," Leley said.
The National Police Service recruitment exercise will officially begin on Friday, October 3, 2025, and run through to Thursday, October 9, 2025, except on October 4 and 5, which will be a weekend.
The recruitment centres will be across the 47 counties.
The Commission said the exercise seeks to identify suitably qualified Kenyans who will be trained as Police Constables.
The public was cautioned that the recruitment is free of charge and open to all eligible candidates.
The Commission warned against bribery and other forms of corruption during the process, stressing that any attempt to influence recruitment amounts to a criminal offence.
It noted that under section 25 of the NPSC Act, anyone found engaging in corrupt practices or knowingly giving false or misleading information to the Commission commits an offence punishable by a fine of up to two hundred thousand shillings or imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years, or both.
Members of the public were further encouraged to report any malpractice to the nearest police station or through hotlines provided, including 0709099000, 999, 911, 112 or the #fichuakwaDCI line 0800722203.
On entry requirements, the Commission indicated that applicants must be citizens of Kenya and holders of a valid Kenya National Identity Card. Eligible candidates must fall between the ages of 18 and 28 years.
The minimum academic qualification is a grade of D+ in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education, with at least a D+ in either English or Kiswahili.
Applicants are also required to be physically and medically fit, with the stipulated minimum height set at five feet eight inches for male candidates and five feet three inches for female candidates.
Those with criminal records or pending criminal charges will not be considered.
The Commission further clarified that female candidates must not be pregnant at the time of recruitment or throughout the training period. Graduates of the National Youth Service who meet the minimum requirements have been encouraged to apply.
