
A joint effort between security agencies and the local community has led to the successful recovery of 25 stolen livestock in Laikipia County, bringing relief to residents who have been grappling with rising livestock theft.
According to the National Police Service, members of the Samburu Peace Committee, working closely with elders from Kahuho Village and the area chief, tracked down and recovered the stolen animals on Sunday, September 14.
"The livestock had been stolen on September 9," NPS said on X.
Police reported that the livestock was recovered in the Mutara area and secured at the Olmotonyi ASTU Camp pending handover to the rightful owner.
Authorities assured the public that a multi-agency security team is pursuing key leads to apprehend those responsible for the theft.
The National Police Service commended the collaborative efforts of the committees, village elders, and administrative officers, noting that such cooperation is vital for safeguarding lives, property, and community trust.
"Remain vigilant and share information that could help security agencies prevent similar crimes," NPS told the residents.
