President William Ruto on Sunday joined staff and their families for a church service at the State House Chapel in Nairobi, reaffirming his commitment to building a larger, permanent place of worship within the State House compound.
The President mingled freely with children and families of State House staff after the service, which was held in the modest chapel constructed from iron sheets.
The State House Chapel has served the spiritual needs of staff and residents within the compound for the past 22 years.
During the service, State House Chaplain Bernard Njagi noted the chapel’s historical significance, saying it has not only served staff but also hosted senior clergy who have prayed for the President and the government over the years.
In his remarks, Ruto reiterated his ambition to construct a more permanent and spacious worship facility.
“Here at State House, God will bless us to get a better place for worship. We will not have some people worshipping from outside since we will have a bigger place,” he said.
“I am confident that God will make provisions for us to have a place where we can worship Him in this compound.”

The President also praised those currently managing the chapel for maintaining consistent worship services, adding that the nation is already witnessing God's favour through abundant rains and improved harvests.
“We are very happy that we have a place to worship here at State House,” said Ruto.
“All I ask from all of you is to work hard in whatever you do.”
