Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen will today appear before the Committee on Administration and Internal Security to brief MPs on measures taken to ensure transparency, integrity, fairness, inclusivity, accountability, and public confidence in the police recruitment process.
The session, scheduled for 10 am at County Hall, will also cover challenges linked to the dual or shared roles of the National Police Service (NPS) and the National Police Service Commission (NPSC), as outlined in the Constitution.
The NPSC has announced the recruitment of 10,000 police constables under new 2025 regulations designed to promote transparency and curb corruption.
According to the commission, the fresh framework emphasises fairness, professionalism, and merit, while sealing loopholes that previously enabled bribery and favouritism in the recruitment process.
The regulations, developed under Section 28 of the NPSC Act, update the 2015 rules while addressing emerging issues in policing and human resource management.
