Detectives in Siaya County have launched investigations after the decomposed body of a woman was discovered on a farm in Yala, Gem constituency.
Police said the body was found alongside a bag containing clothes, sandals, and a mobile phone. The discovery was made by a man who had gone to cut grass for his cows and was drawn to the scene by a foul smell.
The motive behind the killing remains unclear. The body has been moved to the mortuary for an autopsy as investigations continue.
In a separate incident in Kamukuywa, Bungoma County, a 79-year-old man was found murdered inside his home.
Police identified the deceased as Isaiah Simiyu, who was discovered lying in a pool of blood with deep cuts on his face.
According to officers, Simiyu had last been seen alive on September 4. His body was discovered on Saturday, several days after the suspected attack.
The motive of the killing has not yet been established. His remains were taken to the mortuary for postmortem examination.
Elsewhere in Metamaywa, Keroka, Nyamira County, another man was killed and his body dumped by the roadside.
The victim, whose identity had not been established by police, was found half-naked and lying in a pool of blood with severe head injuries.
The incident was reported on Saturday, long after the killing. The body was moved to the mortuary pending identification and an autopsy.
And in Magena, Kisii County, police are probing the death of Albert Okemwa, 35, whose body was discovered near Mogonga Shopping Centre.
Okemwa, a lorry conductor, was found with deep cut wounds on his forehead and jaw, about 50 metres from the truck he had been riding in from Transmara.
His driver told police they had arrived at Mogonga on Friday, September 5, and parked the lorry at a petrol station.
He said he left Okemwa inside the truck as he went to look for a place to spend the night. When he returned, Okemwa was missing, only for his body to be found nearby hours later.
The driver was detained by police for interrogation as detectives pursue leads into the killing.
Police in all four counties said investigations are ongoing and postmortems will be conducted to help establish the circumstances of the murder.
