

A panel of experts on the compensation of victims of protests and riots will be sworn in today at 10 am at the Supreme Court of Kenya.
The panel will thereafter hold its inaugural meeting with the technical team at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre.
President William Ruto appointed the committee to facilitate compensation of victims of demonstrations and protests dating back to 2017.
Prof. Makau Mutua, who is Ruto’s senior advisor on constitutional affairs and human rights, shall chair the panel.
The panel is mandated to design and establish an operational framework to verify, categorise, and compensate eligible victims.
It will also engage with relevant stakeholders to ensure inclusivity and fairness in the compensation process and authenticate data on eligible victims.
National Assembly committee to continue vetting of envoy nominees
The National Assembly Committee on Defence, Intelligence and Foreign Relations will continue with approval hearings/vetting of persons nominated for appointment as ambassadors, high commissioners and consuls-general.
Vetting will commence from 9.30 am at the Mini Chamber, County Hall.
Joseph Musyoka Masila (Riyadh, Saudi Arabia), Edwin Afande (Vienna, Austria), Jayne Jepkorir Toroitich (Consul-General Dubai, UAE) and Judy Kiaria Nkumiri (Consul-General Goma, DRC) have been lined up for vetting today.
President William Ruto recently announced a major realignment in the Foreign Service, nominating and redeploying 20 diplomats to strategic postings worldwide.
Once approved by Parliament, the newly nominated ambassadors, high commissioners, consuls general, and deputy heads of mission will serve in key diplomatic missions across Africa, Europe, Asia, and North America.
Ruto to officially open Mombasa ASK Show
President William Ruto will today officially open the Agricultural Society of Kenya Show in Mombasa.
Key highlights of the day include an address by the President and awarding of trophies to winners from the judging of stands, livestock parade, arena extravaganza, funfair and livestock auction.
Held at the Mkomani Showground, the 2025 edition features over 200 exhibitors, including government agencies, private companies, and international partners.
The show provides a platform for networking, investment opportunities, and knowledge exchange across various sectors vital to Kenya’s development.
This year’s theme, “Innovation and Sustainability for
Economic Growth,” emphasises the need for green technologies, climate-smart
agriculture, and digital transformation in both rural and urban economies.
