Former United States President Barack Obama has condemned the shooting in Minneapolis that left two children dead and 17 others injured on Wednesday.

In a statement shared on his X page, Obama described the incident as heartbreaking and urged Americans not to grow numb to mass shootings.

“We can’t allow ourselves to become numb to mass shootings. What happened today in Minneapolis is heartbreaking,” he said.

According to reports, the shooting took place at a Catholic school while children were attending a worship service during their first week of school.

Obama extended his condolences to the affected families, offering prayers for both the victims and survivors.

“Michelle and I are praying for the parents who have lost a child or will be sitting at their hospital bedside after yet another act of unspeakable, unnecessary violence,” he added.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has launched a probe into the incident, treating it as an act of domestic terrorism and a crime targeting the Catholic community.
