The result extinguished East Africa’s last hope in the competition after Kenya and Tanzania were knocked out in Friday’s fixtures.
Kenya fell 4-3 to Madagascar on penalties, while Tanzania lost 1-0 to Morocco.
Uganda, cheered on by a vibrant home crowd, matched the reigning champions for much of the contest.
A moment of Senegalese brilliance, however, proved decisive.
The defending champions, who won their maiden CHAN crown in 2023 after edging Algeria on penalties, once again demonstrated why they remain one of the tournament’s most formidable forces with their pace and physicality.
The lone goal came in the 62nd minute through Ourma Ba, who controlled a lofted cross inside the six-yard box before smashing it home with his right foot.
Cranes head coach Morley Byekwaso, who had urged his side to rise to the occasion in front of home fans, admitted the result was a tough one to take but praised his players for their fight.
"We gave it everything, but football can be cruel. I’m proud of the boys and the journey we’ve had,” he said.
Senegal coach Souleymane Diallo hailed Uganda’s resilience, saying his side had to work hard to earn the win.
The victory sees Senegal advance to the semi-finals as they continue their title defense, while Uganda bow out with their dream of reaching the last four unfulfilled.
