The match between Kenya and Madagascar

Football Kenya Federation has announced the fan zones for the upcoming match between Kenya and Madagascar of Friday Evening.

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has announced designated fan zones across Nairobi for Friday evening’s high-stakes quarter-final clash between Kenya and Madagascar in the African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024.

The fan zones include Babadogo, Kibra DC Grounds, Jacaranda Grounds, Safari Rally Grounds-Kasarani, Dandora Stadium, Pand Pieri-Githurai, Utalii Sports Club-Githurai, Uhuru Park, Camp Toyoyo, and Ruiru.

According to FKF, the zones are meant to allow fans to follow the match live without overwhelming Kasarani Stadium, where tickets sold out within hours of release.

This is the first time in history that Kenya will be featuring in a CHAN quarter-final, a milestone that has ignited unprecedented excitement among supporters.

The 27,000 available tickets, representing 60 percent of Kasarani’s full capacity, were sold out in record time after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) opened its booking portal.

The restriction was imposed after Kenya was penalised for breaching CAF guidelines, limiting fan access despite massive demand.

The government, working with FKF, says the introduction of fan zones is aimed at easing pressure at the stadium, with thousands of supporters expected to turn up across the country to cheer on Harambee Stars.

Kenya advanced to the quarter-finals after topping Group A with 10 points, following wins against DR Congo, Morocco, and Zambia, and a draw against Angola.

By leading the group, Stars set up a clash with Madagascar, who finished second in Group B with seven points, behind leaders Tanzania.

Beyond the quest for continental glory, players are also chasing promised rewards.

President William Ruto pledged Sh1 million and a two-bedroom affordable housing unit to each player should they emerge victorious, adding extra motivation for the Stars to fight for a place in the semi-finals.

As anticipation builds, Friday’s match is expected to be one of the most memorable fixtures in Kenya’s football history, both on the pitch and across fan zones nationwide.
