Naivasha MP Jayne Kihara has faulted the authorities for allegedly blocking visitors from accessing her Maraigushu home, Nakuru, terming the move as unwarranted and an abuse of authority.

Speaking on Saturday through videos shared on her Facebook page, Kihara said dozens of officers had erected several roadblocks along the road leading to her residence, preventing her guests from entering.

In the clips, uniformed officers, some armed with batons, stocks, and guns, are seen stationed at different points.

A visibly frustrated Kihara is captured confronting one of the officers, questioning why she needed permission to access her private property.

“I need permission to go to my private home?” she asked, to which the officer briefly walked away before responding, “Madam, tumemaliza. Hizo vitu zingine, get from the office.”

When contacted for a response on the matter, Police Spokesperson Muchiri Nyagah told the Star he was not aware of the matter.

"In fact I am hearing it from you. I am not aware of the issue. I will try to reach out to the regional commander and find out what happened," he said.

In another exchange, Kihara is heard expressing disbelief over claims that she was allegedly hosting an illegal meeting.

“I don’t need permission to go to my house. An illegal meeting at my house? This is interesting,” she remarked.

Later, in a press briefing, the MP alleged that the officer in charge told her they were on patrol, yet there were more than three roadblocks along the route, a situation she said she had never seen before.

“We have police outside my gate. The officer is telling me to call the OCPD because I am holding an illegal meeting,” she said.

Kihara maintained that she had a right to host guests at her home, insisting she would not be intimidated.

“I know my rights, and have been elected by these people here. I can host them. This is my private property. I don’t see why I shouldn't host guests in my house. I can host whoever I want to host,” she said.

The legislator criticised the deployment of officers to block access to her home, arguing that police should focus on more pressing security issues rather than frustrating elected leaders.

Her remarks come amid growing discontent among opposition members, some of whom have in recent months decried being allegedly targeted for their political standing and having faced a similar police blockade move.
