
The move by a man to beat to death a man he confronted in his compound has landed him in trouble.
The man who was alone in the compound at the time of the incident was arrested for murder following the incident in Nyabeda village in Rachar, Rarieda, Siaya County, police said.
According to the man, now turned suspect, an intruder tried to gain entry into his house on July 31 dawn.
The commotion woke him up leading to a confrontation.
He told police he identified the deceased man as only Davie.
In the confrontation, he sustained injuries in the head, hands and legs but managed to overpower the slain suspect.
He then tied both his hands and legs using a sisal rope before embarking on a beating spree that left him with fatal injuries in his compound.
The body had multiple injuries in the left side of the head and face.
It had been hit by a blunt object causing fatal injuries, police said.
Police were called to the scene and found the body still tied both hands and legs.
The officers recovered a hammer and car wheel spanner which are believed to be the murder weapons.
The man was arrested for murder probe as the body was moved to the mortuary.
Police said the man could have called them for collection of the suspect instead of killing him.
The incident is one among many of mob lynching which are being reported at an alarming rate.
Police discourage mob lynching and want suspects to be surrendered to authorities for further processing.
Meanwhile, three suspects were arrested over the murder of a woman in Kulamawe, Isiolo County.
Two guns were found on the suspects in an operation staged in the area.Police said they recovered an AK47 rifle with three bullets from a house belonging to one of the suspects.
The team also found a G3 rifle with an empty magazine with an empty case loaded at the chamber.
Police said this follows the murder of Nelly Echukut in the area.
Police said two of the suspects had been arrested by locals who later handed them to authorities.
They sustained serious injuries in the drama and were taken to hospital.
The motive of the fatal shooting of Echukut is yet to be disclosed.
