President William Ruto to chair a Cabinet meeting at State House Nairobi from 10a.m

The President will chair the meeting hours after returning from Ethiopia, where he attended the second UN Food Systems Summit Stocktake (UNFSS+4).

At the summit, Ruto delivered Kenya’s national statement, reaffirming the country’s commitment to transforming food systems to support sustainable development and enhance climate resilience.

On the sidelines, the President held bilateral talks with other leaders, including Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, and the African Union Commission Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, among others.

Labour CS Alfred Mutua to launch National Policy for Persons with Disabilities

Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, Alfred Mutua, to launch Persons with Disabilities National Policy at 8am, Sarova Panafric Hotel.

The launch event will feature insightful presentations on the policy's framework, implementation approach, and its critical interlinkage with the Persons with Disabilities Act 2025.

Key stakeholders, including representatives from organisations of Persons with Disabilities, civil society organisations, UN agencies, and government ministries, will make presentations, highlighting the collaborative effort behind the policy.

In Kenya, teachers receive house allowances to assist with housing costs, in addition to their basic salary, as determined by the TSC. The amount varies based on the teacher's job group (grade) and location. 

To address the longstanding disparities in house allowances, the Teachers Service Commission recently introduced a revised structure for house allowances.

The revised structure for house allowances categorises regions based on clusters.

While the government's attempt to address regional disparities in house allowances is commendable, it has not been without criticism. Teachers' unions and educators from various regions have raised concerns about the adequacy and fairness of the new structure.
