The High Court has scheduled a virtual hearing on August 19, 2025, to determine whether Klinzy Barasa will be granted bail or bond, setting timelines for the necessary filings.

Justice Kanyi Kimondo directed Barasa’s legal team, led by Counsel Keeton, to file a formal bail application within seven days.

“The defence shall file their bail application within seven days,” Justice Kimondo ruled.

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) was also ordered to serve its application to the defence and respond to the bail request within seven days of receiving it.

“The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions is directed to respond within seven days upon service,” the judge added.

Counsel Fred Ngatia, who is representing the victims' family, was granted a similar seven-day window to submit a response.

Justice Kimondo affirmed that the victims will be allowed to participate actively in the trial proceedings.

Due to the upcoming court recess, the hearing of the bail and bond applications will be conducted virtually.

“Given the upcoming court recess, the hearing of the bail and bond applications shall proceed virtually on August 19, 2025,” he noted
