President William Ruto will today grace the Talanta bell-ringing ceremony.

The Talanta bell-ringing ceremony refers to the opening or closing of the Nairobi Securities Exchange.

The Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) will today list the Sh44.79 billion Talanta Sports City stadium bond.

This bond, backed by Liaison Group, will be listed on the NSE and is part of a project testing a new financing model for sports infrastructure in Kenya.

The bond has been structured with a premium and a standby letter of credit from Kenya Commercial Bank to attract investors, and it is also exempted from income tax.

CS Mvurya to brief Senate on progress of stadium construction projects

Youth Affairs and Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya is set to appear before the Senate Plenary to apprise lawmakers on the construction of stadiums.

Kenya Kwanza government is actively involved in stadium construction, notably the Talanta Sports City project, which is on track to be completed by December 2025.

Last week, President William Ruto announced plans to construct a modern stadium at Jacaranda Grounds in Soweto, Embakasi East, Nairobi.

He revealed that the stadium's construction will officially begin in September 2025.

Environment CS Deborah Barasa to address Senate on rising illegal dumping cases

Environment CS Deborah Barasa will today appear before senators during plenary over increased cases of illegal dumping across the country.

The CS will particularly address dumping near public facilities like schools, hospitals and recreational grounds.

Illegal dumping of waste in Kenya is a growing problem, with reported cases increasing and causing significant public health and environmental concerns.

The lack of proper waste management infrastructure, coupled with issues like open dumping, leachate, and toxic smoke, poses major threats to communities.

IG Kanja and Tessie Mudavadi to commission boreholes at National Police Service Embakasi campuses

Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja and Tessie Mudavadi to commission two boreholes at National Police Service, AP, Embakasi ‘A’ Campus and GSU Embakasi ‘B’ Campus from 8 am to 1 pm.

The project is being undertaken by Ushiriki Wema, which pledged to dig boreholes to provide a reliable water source for nurturing the trees and supporting efforts within National Police Service institutions and the surrounding communities.

Ushiriki Wema Tree Restoration project, dubbed “Kuzingatia Mazingira Yetu”, is an initiative that aligns with President William Ruto’s agenda to plant 15 billion trees to increase Kenya’s tree cover by 30 per cent by the year 2032.
