Juja Member of Parliament George Koimburi has been released on a cash bail of Sh300,000.

"Accused person may be released on a cash bail of 300,000," Principal Magistrate Ben Mark Ekhubi said in his ruling.

The accused is also required to provide three contact persons and present himself for fingerprint taking on Thursday, July 24, 2025.

The Member of Parliament appeared before court after the Principal Magistrate Ekhubi directed that he present himself.

He appeared looking sickly and frail with a noticeable limp as he entered the courtroom.

Koimburi pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.

The prosecution in court did not oppose bail and made an application for the accused to present himself for fingerprint taking, which the court granted.

Koimburi and six others have been charged with allegedly conspiring to defeat justice by stage managing his abduction in order to prevent arrest and arraignment at Kiambu Law Courts to answer to charges as directed by the office of the DPP, where he had been charged with four counts in relation to land fraud.

The member of parliament faces an additional charge of publication of false information contrary to section 23 of the Computer Misuse and Cyber Crimes Act.

It is alleged that on June 7, 2025, at Karen Hospital via YouTube account, he gave a press release stating that he had been abducted and tortured by some criminals.

He is charged together with Juja Constituency development fund chairman Peter Kirato Muhia and Kanyenya-ini Ward Member of County Assembly Grace Nduta Wairimu.

The court adapted similar bond terms as those of the other accused persons and released him on cash bail.

The matter will be mentioned on August 5, 2025, for further directions.
