Kenyans are set to experience a mix of light rains, chilly mornings and gusty winds this week, according to a forecast released by the Kenya Meteorological Department.
The forecast is covering the period from July 22, to July 28, 2025.
Light rainfall is expected in parts of the Central Highlands and western counties, offering slight relief to farmers and residents amid a generally dry season.
However, cold and cloudy conditions will prevail in the Southeastern lowlands, the Rift Valley, and highland areas.
Morning and evening chills are expected to persist, with temperatures dropping to below 10°C, especially in areas near Mt Kilimanjaro and parts of the Central Highlands.
Conversely, the Northeastern and Northwestern regions will remain hot, with daytime temperatures soaring past 30°C.
Met said the Coastal areas, along with Northeastern, Northwestern and Southeastern regions, should brace for strong winds exceeding 25 knots, potentially affecting transport, outdoor activities and small craft operations along the coast.
The department urged Kenyans to dress warmly in cooler areas and advised farmers to monitor local forecasts for rainfall.
It also cautioned motorists about reduced visibility and slippery roads in areas that are expected to receive rain.
In its Climate Outlook for July 2025, the Kenya Meteorological Department forecast that many parts of the country will experience cool temperatures, cloudy skies, and occasional light rainfall.
This will mainly affect Nairobi, the Central Highlands, some parts of the Rift Valley, and nearby regions.
Kenya Met said rainfall will be near to above normal in several parts of the country.
These include the Lake Victoria Basin, both the western and eastern Highlands of the Rift Valley (including counties such as Nyandarua and Laikipia), the Central and Southern Rift Valley, and some areas in Northwestern Kenya.
It added that some cloudiness may be experienced near hilly and mountainous areas.
In addition to the cool and cloudy weather, there will be fog and drizzle, especially during the early mornings and late evenings.
