Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Saturday met a
section of Kenyans living in Worcester and Boston in his continued tour of the
United States.
Speaking during the meetings, Gachagua emphasised the
crucial of the diaspora community in Kenya’s economic growth and development.
“The current highest foreign exchange earner comes from
diaspora remittances, surpassing income from tea, coffee, and tourism,” he
said.
The former DP said it is clear that serious conversations
with the diaspora community on how to partner with them and enable them to
contribute even more effectively to the country’s progress.
“Together, we can harness the full potential of our diaspora
as a powerful force for sustainable development,” Gachagua said.
In his tour of the US, Gachagua is seeking partners and popularising
his party, DCP, to the diaspora community ahead of the 2027 polls.
