Former Meru governor Kawira Mwangaza has unveiled a new party Umoja na Maendeleo Party (UMP).

Mwangaza exuded confidence that her party will scoop several MPS and MCAS in the 2027 elections.

She is the new party leader in the party that was formerly led by former  Embu governor Martin Wambora.

The former county boss said they will have candidates in all by by-elections that will be declared by IEBC, starting with Mbeere North constituency.

"If there is more than one interested candidate, we will do fair nominations, we will not have favouritism.

Mwangaza said she had faced many political woes, including three impeachments, because she didn't have a political party.

She urged Meru to vote out all leaders who orchestrated her impeachment in the 2027 general elections.

Mwangaza spoke on Saturday at her home in Ntumburi, Buuri constituency, Meru county.

The former county boss said that since she is free after her impeachment, she will traverse Meru county and the country selling her agenda.

She didn't say if she supports President William Ruto or Rigathi Gachagua.

"We want to 'Skiza' but we also want to see if there is development. We want to see good leaders that,t's why we want to send a bunch of leaders home, "she said.

Mwangaza, who sent a warning to all her nemesis, said she will soldier on and will soon get through a court ruling or recall through an election in 2027 if she will be allowed by the court to run.

"When they killed Jesus, they thought they had won, but the gospel continued the same case when they impeached Mama, they thought they had won, but I am still strong," she said.

"We live in a country where there is a constitution, and I believe I was impeached through a phone call, and I believe justice will prevail. I  want to reclaim my seat. I want justice for the people of Meru who elected me. I want justice for the women of this country."

Mwangaza said her woes began in the first month as county boss.

"I had not even received my first salary, and 70 men were already plotting against me and seeing my ouster through inciting MCAs because I had trounced them on the ballot," Mwangaza claimed.

Mwangaza said she was innocent of all the accusations.

The county boss said her party will focus on uplifting low-income earners, not just development, but also on achieving their political dreams.

"Many young people out there have great leaders in them, but lack financial muscles to campaign. Our party will not look at their financial power," she said.

She defended her development record, saying she had done three dams in three constituencies and constructed 40 boreholes across Meru County.

"I was not tolerating shoddy work on my contracts," she said.
