Motorists in Nairobi have been advised to brace for temporary traffic disruptions along Jogoo Road and Nyasa Road starting from 10:00 PM on Friday, July 18, to 11:00 PM on Monday, July 21, 2025.
The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (Kura) issued a notice stating that the road closures are necessary to allow for critical culvert installation works, part of broader infrastructure upgrades aimed at improving urban drainage and traffic flow.
In a statement, KURA apologised for any inconvenience, noting, “We apologise for any inconvenience caused as we continue to transform urban mobility.”
Jogoo and Nyasa roads are among Nairobi’s key transport corridors, and the temporary closure is expected to affect regular traffic flow during the scheduled period.
Motorists are urged to drive cautiously near the affected zones and obey all posted signage. Kura confirmed that traffic police and marshals will be stationed in the area to assist drivers and ensure smooth traffic movement throughout the project duration.
Kura, a state agency under the Ministry of Roads and Transport, is responsible for the development and maintenance of roads in Kenya’s urban centres.
Its mandate includes upgrading road infrastructure, improving drainage systems, and managing traffic in cities and major towns.
The agency reaffirmed its commitment to modernising Kenya’s urban transport systems and ensuring safer, more efficient roads for all users
