Machakos man kills wife's suspected lover, sets body on fire

Police in Tala, Matungulu Sub County, in Machakos county are investigating a murder incident where a man is suspected to have killed his wife’s alleged lover before setting the body on fire and escaping.

The discovery was made on July 11, 2025, after a 50-year-old man in Kwamatingi village alerted the officers at Tala police station about the incident.

 Kangundo and Matungulu DCI visited the scene where they found the body of the man lying dead with visible injuries by the roadside.

‘’It was established that the deceased had some injuries on his head, both arms and legs. Also noted that there were some severe burns on the body, ’noted the police.

According to the police, the suspect allegedly attacked the deceased after reportedly finding him buying sukuma wiki from his wife.

The confrontation is believed to have escalated, resulting in the suspect beating the deceased to death.

Police also noted that, after killing him, the suspect poured petroleum on the deceased's body and set it on fire before fleeing to an unknown location.

The deceased's body has been moved to Kangundo Level Four Hospital for preservation, awaiting autopsy. Police have noted that efforts to track and arrest the suspect are underway.

Meanwhile, Police officers in Nyandarua County are investigating the death of a 34-year-old man whose body was discovered on July 11, 2025, lying beside the road at Muireri area in Kiambaga location.

According to the police, the lifeless body was found at around 9:38 a.m. Officers from Olkalou Police Station and DCI Nyandarua Central visited the scene and recovered a national ID from the victim’s trouser pocket, identifying him as Joshua Muiruri Karanji.

Police noted that the body was lying face-up with white foam oozing from the mouth, but with no visible physical injuries.

The scene was photographed and documented before the body was moved to JM Kariuki Hospital mortuary for an autopsy.

Investigations are underway to establish the cause of death, with DCI Nyandarua Central leading the probe.
