The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has refuted claims circulating on social media regarding its Director-General, Eng. Silas Kinoti.
In the statement on Friday, KURA clarified that the allegations suggesting Kinoti is set to proceed on terminal leave are false and without basis.
“We wish to inform the public that the information circulating on social media alleging that Eng Silas Kinoti, Director General of Kenya Urban Roads Authority, is set to proceed on terminal leave is false,” the authority stated.
KURA urged the public to disregard the misleading reports, emphasising that such misinformation serves only to cause unnecessary confusion.
Taking to his X account, Kinoti also denied the reports as baseless and misleading.
“Contrary to the claims being spread, I, Eng Silas Kinoti, Director General of the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA), am not proceeding on terminal leave,” he said.
“These allegations are completely false, misleading and should be treated with the disregard they deserve.”
He urged the public to exercise caution and to avoid falling victim to misinformation.
He noted the importance of relying solely on official communication channels for accurate updates concerning KURA and its leadership.
“The public is hereby urged not to fall prey to misinformation and to rely only on official communication channels for verified updates regarding KURA and its leadership,” he added.
Kinoti affirmed his continued service at the helm of the Authority and reiterated KURA’s unwavering commitment to its national mandate.
“We remain fully committed to our mandate of developing and maintaining quality urban roads infrastructure across the country, and I continue to discharge my duties in that capacity without interruption,” Kinoti said.
Kinoti was confirmed as the KURA DG on June 18, 2020.
Prior to that, he had been holding the position in an acting capacity since September 2015.
Kinoti joined KURA in 2009 as manager (Roads) and was later promoted to General Manager (Planning and Environment), prior to appointment as Director-General in an acting capacity in September 2015.
