The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) now says it has restored access to the online voter portal following a brief disruption of the service.
According to the commission, the disruption was to allow for a scheduled system maintenance.
“The voter verification portal is back, up and running,” IEBC said in a statement.
“We appreciate your patience during the maintenance period.”
The shutdown announced on Sunday, it said, was part of “ongoing migration to new infrastructure aimed at enhancing service delivery through system performance and security.”
“We highly regret any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding as we work towards serving you better,” read the statement.
It also assured the public about the integrity of voter registration records, saying the details of all 22.1 million registered voters from the 2022 general election remain intact and secure.
“The commission wishes to assure all Kenyans that the registration details remain intact and secure,” it said while assuring of its steadfastness in its commitment to strengthening Kenya's democracy.
The portal allows voters to check their details as captured in the voter register.
These include the voter's name, the county name, constituency, ward, polling
centre name, polling station name and polling station stream.
To obtain these details, one is required to put their identification number (ID)and the year of birth.
There is also an option of printing the details once received.
