Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka has called for the unity of the Western region, saying they deserve better.

The Opposition on Thursday stormed the Western region for a two-day political tour starting with Kakamega County.

The tour is part of a growing national campaign aimed at rallying public support and addressing what they term a "liberation cause" for the country.

Kalonzo was joined by other opposition leaders, including DCP leader Rigathi Gachagua, Democratic Action Party–Kenya (DAP-K) leader Eugene Wamalwa, former Attorney General Justin Muturi, and former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i.

While concluding the Kakamega tour, Kalonzo said the United Opposition will walk with them to fight injustices and promote unity in the region.

“We have just wrapped up Kakamega. Goons were sent to block us, but they faced the brave and patriotic GenZ front who stood razor-tall,” Kalonzo said.

“Primitive politics of fear and sabotage must end. To the people of Western, you deserve better. Know that the United Opposition walks with you together.”

Kalonzo had earlier said the tour aims to walk together, to listen to the people, tackle their challenges, and strengthen unity under the movement.

He also dismissed reports that the opposition has been funding goons to disrupt peaceful protests.

“Let it also be categorically clear: We will not be silenced. We will not be distracted. The people are watching and so are we,” he said.

The western Kenya tour comes just days after a large political gathering in Narok county on June 30, where Gachagua described the public turnout as a "sea of humanity" and reaffirmed the opposition's resolve to push for democratic reforms.

“A sea of humanity in one collective has spoken from Narok on an unstoppable liberation cause of our country, Kenya. We have heard your cry like all other Kenyans,” Gachagua declared following the Narok tour.

“There is great hope and light ahead that our nation will be free again; there will be no abductions and anarchy, no extrajudicial killings, and the rule of law shall be respected,” he added, signalling continued criticism of the current administration’s governance and security record.

The opposition's growing momentum has seen the team traverse multiple counties in recent weeks.
