Police have launched investigations into three separate cases of sudden
death reported on July 1, 2025, in Nairobi, and Murang’a counties, amid growing
concern over unexplained fatalities.
In Embakasi Sub-County, Nairobi, the body of
30-year-old Dennis Muhuro Mutire was found inside his house at Pipeline Estate
by his uncle.
Police who visited the scene said there were no visible injuries on the
body. The remains were taken to City Mortuary pending a postmortem to determine
the cause of death.
A similar case was reported in Mathare, Starehe
Division, involving 42-year-old Kevin Mbuthia.
According to police, Mbuthia had spent part of the day selling miraa with a
friend before he complained of a headache and went to rest.
When he failed to return, the friend went to check on him and found him
unresponsive inside his house at Kambi Safi.
The body, which had no physical injuries, was moved to City Mortuary as
investigations continue.
In Murang’a South, police are investigating
the death of 68-year-old Stephen Ng’ang’a Njoroge, who was found dead in his
bed at Githuya village.
The local assistant chief made the report, and officers noted that
the body was already decomposing when it was discovered on June 30.
It was taken to Murang’a Level Five
Hospital Mortuary for further examination.
Meanwhile, in Meru County’s Mutuati
Sub-County, a 29-year-old man suspected of theft died following a mob attack.
The deceased, Kelvin Munywa, was
reportedly beaten by members of the public in the Kiromwathi area on suspicion
of being a serial thief.
Though he was initially treated at
Mutuati Sub-County Hospital and referred to Maua Hospital, he was instead taken
home, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Investigating officers confirmed he had
visible bruises on his legs and injuries to the head and mouth.
His body was taken to Nyambene Level IV Mortuary, and the case is under
investigation by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Mutuati.
In another shocking incident in Kisii County,
a suspected domestic dispute in Bokimogori village turned tragic after a woman,
49-year-old Everline Nyaboke, was found murdered and her body mutilated.
Her remains, discovered outside her house wrapped in a sack, led villagers
to suspect her husband, Stephen Onserio, aged 53, of the killing.
The suspect was lynched and his body set
ablaze by an angry mob before police from Nyacheki Police Station and DCI
Nyamache arrived at the scene. Both bodies were moved to Ogembo Sub-County
Hospital mortuary for postmortem.
Police
have since opened investigations into the murder and the mob justice incident,
urging the public not to take the law into their own hands.
Authorities said all cases remain
under active investigation, with postmortem results expected to guide further
action
