Students at the 2025 Kenya Music Festival are embracing insurance and wealth
creation through music and performance.
This year’s theme, "Securing Lives Transformed and Wealth Created through Life,
Health, and Wealth Insurance," guides the festival's message.
Speaking during the Nairobi regionals at Moi
Forces Academy, Nairobi Regional Director of Education Victoria Muoka praised
the festival’s wider impact.
“Music is a powerful tool for emotional
expression, communication, and preserving culture,” said Muoka.
She noted that teachers, coaches, and
institutions play a major role in preparing learners.
Pamela Mang’oli, Chairperson of the Kenya Music
Festival Nairobi Region, said this year’s theme fits well with the
Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
“This year’s theme is centered around
insurance, and it’s incredibly important, especially in line with the CBC,”
said Mang’oli.
She said teaching learners about insurance
early will benefit them and the country in the long term.
Mang’oli also said participation in the
festival has increased, especially in the junior primary category.
“Last year was an introduction, but this year
we expanded to five days of performances,” she added.
Equity Bank’s Regional General Manager for
Nairobi East, Mary Mungai, said the sponsorship reflects the bank’s commitment
to talent and financial empowerment.
Equity Group has sponsored the festival with Sh25 million. The funds support
cultural expression and financial literacy among students.
“Our Sh25 million sponsorship shows our dedication to nurturing talent and
securing the wealth it creates,” said Mungai.
She added that Equity is focused on equipping
students with financial tools such as insurance to protect their future.
Participants this year include learners from
preschools, primary and secondary schools, teacher colleges, TVET institutions,
and universities.
The
national festival will take place in Meru in August.
