The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a detailed
forecast for the week starting Monday, July 1, to Sunday, July 7, 2025,
outlining a mix of weather conditions across the country.
The forecast
highlights a combination of rain, cold mornings, hot afternoons, and strong
winds in different regions, urging the public to stay informed and plan
accordingly.
According to the department, rainfall is expected over
several areas during the week.
These include the Highlands, both east and west of the Rift
Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and most parts of the Rift Valley itself.
Rainfall is also likely in the Coastal region, as well as in
some parts of Northeastern and Northwestern Kenya.
These rains are expected to vary in intensity depending on
the region, and the department advises residents in affected areas to be
cautious, especially those in flood-prone zones.
In addition to the rain, cold and cloudy conditions may be
experienced in parts of the Highlands, especially those lying east and west of
the Rift Valley.
The South-eastern
Lowlands and some areas in the Rift Valley may also have cold and overcast
mornings and evenings during the week.
While some regions will be cold, others, especially in the
North-eastern and North-western parts of the country, will experience hot
afternoons.
Temperatures in these areas are expected to rise above 30
degrees Celsius. Residents in these regions are advised to stay hydrated and
avoid prolonged exposure to the sun.
Night-time temperatures are expected to be much lower in
parts of the Central Highlands, the Central Rift Valley, and areas around Mt.
Kilimanjaro.
In these places, temperatures may drop below 10 degrees
Celsius. The public is advised to keep warm, especially vulnerable groups such
as the elderly and children.
Strong winds are also part of the forecast this week. The
Meteorological Department reports that southerly to south-easterly winds
blowing at speeds of over 25 knots are expected in coastal areas, the
South-eastern Lowlands, and parts of the North-eastern and North-western
regions.
These winds may affect marine activities and road safety,
especially in open and flat areas.
