Detectives are investigating the murder of a night guard whose body was
found outside a garage where he worked in the Ruai area of Nairobi.
The victim, identified as Yamurenge Rarisoni, a
Burundian national, was discovered with deep head injuries and blood caked
around the wounds along Kangundo Road. His hands had been tied behind his back
with a shoelace.
Police said nothing was stolen from the garage,
deepening the mystery surrounding the motive. The body was taken to the
mortuary pending an autopsy and further investigations. Officers have pledged
to pursue justice in the case.
In a separate incident in the same area, a
motorcyclist was lynched by a mob on suspicion of theft. Police reported that
on June 28, the deceased allegedly attempted to rob a pedestrian of a mobile
phone. An alarm was raised, and the mob chased him down, stoned him to death,
and set his body on fire.
Officers arrived minutes later and moved the
body to the mortuary for identification and postmortem. His damaged motorcycle
was recovered at the scene and taken to the local police station.
Authorities have condemned the mob justice and
urged the public to hand over suspects to law enforcement for due process.
Meanwhile, in Ngomeni, Chasimba, Kilifi
County, a 75-year-old man, Nyiro Mwachambi, was found dead in his house
following an overnight attack. Police said he had been sleeping with his wife
when unknown assailants struck. The house door was reportedly unlocked at the
time.
The body, which bore deep cuts to the head and
neck, was moved to the mortuary for autopsy. Family members present during the
attack were questioned as part of the investigation.
Cases
of murders targeting the elderly have been rising in the region, prompting
security agencies to launch a probe into the trend. A special team has been
tasked with investigating these killings.
