President William Ruto has cautioned members of the National Government Administration Officers against any form of abuse of office, warning that corruption, neglect of duty, and misuse of authority pose a grave threat to national unity and public trust.

In a strongly worded address delivered to senior administrators, Ruto called on public officers to serve with diligence, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to the common good, saying their conduct must reflect the ideals of justice, fairness, and the rule of law.

“This is my request to you — to support me on matters of national unity and in pushing for the transformation of our nation in all its aspects, because we owe it to the people of Kenya,” said Ruto.

“I am committed to taking the necessary decisions to transform our nation."

He urged administrators to apply the knowledge and skills gained in their training to deliver efficient service to Kenyans, stressing that they occupy positions of immense public trust.

“Citizens look to you not just to implement policy but to uphold justice, fairness, and the rule of law in each aspect of interaction,” Ruto said.

“Never forget that a single lapse in judgment or abuse of authority can have far-reaching consequences.

Speaking at the Kenya School of Government on June 13, Ruto warned that when public trust is broken — whether through corruption, abuse of power, or failure to deliver — it risks eroding social cohesion and threatening the country's stability.

“Let your conduct inspire confidence, trust and respect,” he said.

“Be the kind of public servant whose actions reinforce the legitimacy of government, uphold the dignity of the state, and strengthen the bond between citizens and their leaders.”

Ruto's remarks come amid increased public scrutiny of government institutions and renewed calls for accountability and transparency in public service delivery.

The President has repeatedly emphasised the need for ethical leadership across all arms of government as a cornerstone of the Kenya Kwanza administration’s transformation.

He spoke during the graduation ceremony for Assistant County Commissioners who were graduating with a diploma in public administration from the KSG.
