The affordable housing project in Nanyuki is 95 per cent complete, Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo has revealed.
The Nanyuki Affordable Housing Project, located in Laikipia East Constituency, Laikipia County was launched in January 2024 by President William Ruto.
The project, which is part of President Ruto’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), is aimed at addressing Kenya’s urban housing challenges.
According to PS Omollo, the remaining work comprises civil works and landscaping, adding that it is progressing steadily, setting the stage for full occupancy in the near future.Once complete, the development will offer a total of 200 housing units, designed to meet the diverse needs of local residents.
The unit mix includes: 60 studio apartments, 20 one-bedroom units, 100 two-bedroom units and 20 three-bedroom units.
“This project addresses the critical housing shortage in the region and delivers broad socio-economic benefits,” PS Omollo said.
“It has also opened up supply chain opportunities for local businesses providing building materials and services.”

Additionally, it has contributed to skill development, particularly for youth and women, who have gained hands-on experience in construction and project support roles.
On May 27, 2025, Omollo also revealed that the affordable housing project in Eldoret was 82 per cent complete.
Omollo said, a team of 220 workers were on-site, driving civil works and finishing touches across nine residential blocks.
According to Omollo, the project comprises 220 housing units: 60 studio apartments, 40 one-bedrooms, 100 two-bedrooms, and 20 three-bedrooms, offering a wide range of options to meet the diverse housing needs of residents.
The project is strategically located in the newly conferred Eldoret City, in which it will significantly ease the housing pressure while spurring socio-economic growth in Kapsuswa and the greater Eldoret metropolis.
