A mental health wellness forum in Kisii.

The Kisii County Police Commander, Ronald Kirui (CP), in collaboration with the County Criminal Investigations Officer, Catherine Njue (CP), convened a strategic meeting and mental wellness programme for National Police Service (NPS) officers on May 3, 2025 at the Kisii University Amphitheatre.

Speaking during the forum, Rose Otieno, a clinical psychologist and lecturer at Kisii University, led a session focused on mental health and wellness.

She urged officers to prioritise psychological resilience, noting that emotional well-being is essential for effective law enforcement.

Also in attendance was Principal Prosecution Counsel Victorine Kitoto from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP),

Kitoto spoke on enhancing the quality of investigations.

She stressed the importance of inter-agency collaboration and maintaining professionalism to ensure successful prosecution and justice delivery.

"The officers also reviewed data on the ongoing crackdown against illicit brews and narcotic drugs in the region, and strategies to sustain and intensify this fight were presented and discussed," the National Police Service said in a statement.

 Other topics covered included criminal investigations, gender-based violence, the execution of court orders, and performance evaluation.

In his remarks, Kirui urged the officers to uphold high standards of professionalism and integrity in their respective jurisdictions.

He emphasised the need for strong leadership, effective command, and public trust in the police service.

The forum brought together key leadership figures from across the county, including all Sub-County Police Commanders, eight Sub-County Criminal Investigations Officers, two Sub-County Administration Police Commanders, five Base Commanders, and thirty-two Police Station Commanders..
