Detectives are investigating an incident where an attendant at a forex bureau was found murdered and his body dumped in a thicket in Namanga, Kajiado County. 

Sebastian Kiptoo Birech worked for Namanga Forex bureau when he was found dead on May 29, police said.

His body was folded in a sack and dumped in a thicket beside the road at the Kichinjio area.

Police visited the scene of the crime and established that the victim may have been killed somewhere else before his body was dumped at the scene.

The body had visible injuries on the head and neck. The body, dressed in jeans and a T-shirt, had blood stains.

The victim has been working at the said bureau since February 2024.

He was last seen alive on the previous day.

The motive of the murder is yet to be known. The body was picked up by the mortuary pending autopsy and other investigations.

Elsewhere in Kamandio sub-location, Kitui County, one Benson Kilonzi, 20, died from assault injuries he sustained earlier on.

The man was stabbed by a person known to him before he died in the hospital.

Police said they are looking for the assailant.

In Masaba North, Nyamira County, a 14-year-old boy was found dead in their house after he had been beaten up over claims he stole three mobile phones and Sh1,000.

Police said they are investigating a murder in the saga. The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and investigations.

Police say murder cases have been on the rise amid efforts to solve the trend.

Most of the cases are pending in court. Up to eight murder cases are reported daily, police say.

In Naivasha, a man died after a huge stone fell on him at a quarry.

The incident happened at Kwa Makara - Kinamba Sub Location and involved one Simon Manyara, 51.

He was among those at the quarry excavating stones when he was killed.

Police said they arrived at the scene and found the body of the deceased covered with rock debris before moving it to the mortuary pending investigations.
