
Sunview Medipro International has launched the first phase of a major installation of advanced medical equipment in several Public Health Facilities, including national, county, and sub-county government Referral Hospitals in Kenya.
The project, part of the National Equipment Service Program (NESP), under the Ministry of Health in partnership with the Council of Governors, will see the deployment of an initial 24 Diagnostic Imaging CT Scan Machines, two Diagnostic Imaging Mammogram Machines, 30 Operating Theatres, and 100 Laboratories across the country.
The initiative, structured under a multi-billion fee-for-service model, is designed to efficiently upgrade infrastructure and strengthen early detection and treatment of common diseases in public health facilities.
This marks a significant milestone in Kenya’s push to decentralised access to specialised medical care and Universal Healthcare Access.
According to the Chief Executive Officer Sunview Medipro, Sirat Amin, an initial, four County Referral Hospitals will be installed with State-of-the-Art CT Scan machines.
Already, delivery and installations at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital in Kisumu, King Fahd Lamu County Referral Hospital, Kerugoya County Referral Hospital and Wajir County Referral Hospital have begun in earnest.
“Our integrated approach ensures that healthcare providers receive seamless support throughout the entire process,” said Sirat Amin, CEO of Sunview Medipro, during the flag-off ceremony held in the company headquarters in Nairobi.
He said the program is not just equipment delivery, but also installation, set up, comprehensive training, maintenance, parts, consumables and ongoing consultation to ensure optimal service delivery.
According to the Principal Supply Chain Officer at COG, James Kamau, the first phase will start with level five and referral hospitals.
Health Principal Secretary Dr. Oluga commended the efforts to strengthen health service delivery.
“Equipping our health facilities with the right tools is a cornerstone of effective care. This is how we build a responsive, resilient health system,” said Dr. Oluga.
Sunview Medipro has partnered with renowned global manufacturers such as GE, Fuji and United Imaging.
More deliveries are expected to take place between eight to ten weeks.
The equipment will support specialities including cardiology, oncology, neurology, pulmonology, urology and gastroenterology –improving diagnostic and treatment capabilities across counties and other public health facilities.
Sunview Medipro plans to collaborate with regional specialists, including cardiologists, paediatricians, orthopaedic surgeons, and interventional radiologists, to further enhance service delivery.
