Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has assured Kenyans that
the Kenya Kwanza administration has the solution to many challenges the country
faces today.
Speaking in Imenti South, Meru County, the DP said that it
is the reason the leadership of the country is always reaching out to the people at
the bottom, instead of waiting for election time to do it.
"It is the reason the government is always trying to hold the likes of mama mbogas, boda boda riders and other small-scale traders because they believe in the Bottom-Up approach," he said.
Kindiki insisted that leaders find solutions to the problems
that ail the country instead of inciting the citizens.
“Watu wa UDA, Kenya Kwanza we believe in Bottom Up ndio
unaona tunazunguka kila mahali tunaongea na watu mashinani tunajaribu
kuwasaidia. Si kungoja wakati wa siasa kuja kuchochea wananchi na kuwapatia
fitina. Kiongozi ni suluhisho. Kiongozi si mtu wa kusikia raia wanalalamika na
wewe unalalamika, you must go and look for a solution,” he said.
This loosely translates to, “We from UDA and Kenya Kwanza
believe in Bottom Up, that's why you see us going everywhere, we talk to people
at the grassroots and we try to help them, not waiting for the time of politics
to come and incite the people and give them strife. A leader is a solution. A
leader is not someone who listens to citizens complaining, but if you start
complaining, you must go and look for a solution.”
The Deputy President was in Imenti South to inspect the
ongoing construction of Kamachege Modern Market.
The visit followed an earlier inspection of Ndaragwa Market
in Nyandarua County on Friday morning.
Kindiki had earlier explained that the President William
Ruto-led administration believes economic transformation should start from the
grassroots.
He said this is the reason the government is putting more
resources and efforts into modernising small-scale traders and farmers, among
others.
The government is constructing over 400 modern markets
across the country.
