In a statement on his X account, Mudavadi congratulated CS Cheptumo on her appointment.

He stressed the importance of collaboration across government in addressing challenges within the sector, emphasizing a whole-of-government approach as vital to achieving national development goals.
“This ministry plays a critical role in shaping policies that champion gender equality, preserve cultural heritage, and nurture artistic and creative expression,” he noted.

Mudavadi expressed optimism about working closely with CS Cheptumo to increase the visibility of the sector, drive inclusive growth and celebrate Kenya’s diverse national identity.
The gender docket, now under Cheptumo’s leadership, is expected to focus on policy innovation and the empowerment of cultural and creative industries.

CS Cheptumo was on Thursday, April 17, 2025 appointed by President William Ruto as the new Cabinet Secretary for Gender, Culture, the Arts, and Heritage.
A lawyer and mother of three, Hanna is the widow of the late Baringo Senator William Cheptumo.
She is the second Gender CS in Ruto’s administration, succeeding Aisha Jumwa.
She is also an advocate of the High Court of Kenya and Cooperative Management Professional.
On the very same Thursday, Ruto on presided over the swearing-in ceremony of Geoffrey Ruku as Cabinet Secretaries for Public Service.
In an event held at the State House, the two CSs took an oath to uphold the ethics and mandates of their respective offices.
The President gazetted their appointment on Wednesday after the Members of the National Assembly unanimously voted to approve them.
The approval came a few days after the two were vetted by the Committee on Appointments to serve in the Public Service and Gender ministries.
