The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) has issued a notice to its members, stakeholders, and the general public of an attempted intrusion targeting its image storage system.
NSSF, in a statement, assured their
members that their data and financial transactions remain secure and safe.
“We wish to assure
our members that the core system, which stores member data and financial transactions,
remains secure and safe,” said NSSF.
NSSF has further
stated that based on their findings of the ongoing investigations, no evidence
of any personal or financial member data has been compromised or extracted.
“NSSF remains firmly committed to upholding the highest standards of data protection, integrity, and transparency,” NSSF stated.
The Tanzania Police Force has since launched investigations into the incident.
A statement issued by the spokesperson of the Police Force described the information as unethical content and advised the public to ignore it.
"These reports are not true, and it should be understood that the Police Force does not prepare or circulate such information on its social media platforms," the statement read.
"While we continue to track down those who created and circulated this information so they can be apprehended, we urge the public to ignore such information and refrain from further spreading it if they come across it," the statement added.
NSSF is a statutory body established under the National Social Security Fund Act No. 45 of 2013.
