Cabinet Secretary for Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs Hassan Joho on Tuesday paid a courtesy call to ODM leader Raila Odinga, where they discussed development issues.

In a statement on his X account, Joho said they held talks on how various sectors in the ministry were performing. 

’’I paid a courtesy call on Raila Odinga during which we had an insightful discussion on recent developments in the sectors of mining, blue economy and maritime affairs, particularly their role in the country's economic transformation, ''' Joho said. 

He was accompanied by PS for Mining Harry Kimtai, PS for Blue Economy Betsy Njagi and PS for Shipping and Maritime Affairs Aden Millah.

Following the meeting, Raila noted the ministry's potential.

"Delighted to hear of recent developments and milestones from the Ministry of Blue Economy. The country has vast potential in the above sectors for growth that we can gain from immensely," Raila said.

On Monday, Joho met with Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, where he updated on the ministry's milestones.

The CS said they have distributed 425 small boats to the five coastal counties, with plans to replicate this initiative along the Lake Victoria shoreline counties.
