Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei now claims that President William Ruto will get back to State House for a Second term with ease.

The vocal senator said on May 15, 2025, that there is no serious political threat that will stand in the way of Ruto’s bid for five more years at the House on the Hill.

The UDA lawmaker attributed his political proposition to  what he termed as Ruto’s positive track record, saying “everything is working.”

“70,000 Kenyans are registering for SHA every day, CBC was left in a mess, but President Ruto is working on it by building over 15,000 classrooms,’’ Cherargei said.

“President Ruto will be elected for a second term because he has a track record. We have youths working at Talanta Hela, affordable housing is at 90% and  70,000 teachers were hired.’’

Speaking during a talk show on Citizen TV on May 15, 2025, Cherargei insisted that there is no formidable challenge to President Ruto’s reelection because the opposition is disorganised.

City lawyer Willis Otieno dismissed Cheragei’s assertion, saying Kenyans are angrier than they were a year ago because the president has allegedly failed to accomplish the goals he was elected to perform during his first term.

“People who are confident that President Ruto is a two-term president are wrong because why would he win a second term to do what?,’’ he said during the same show.

President Ruto has previously affirmed that he will beat his competitors by a landslide in 2027, saying he is on course to fulfil his 2022 campaign pledges.

Speaking in Runyenjes town, Embu County, on April 5, 2025, during his tour of the Mt Kenya region, President Ruto boldly challenged his political rivals, insisting they should prepare for a fierce contest.

“I have no doubt that I will win with a majority of votes in 2027. You elected MCAs, MPs, Senators, Governors, and me to serve you. So, everyone should focus on doing their job. When the time comes, Kenyans will decide who is best based on performance,” he said.

The President stressed that his current priority was to fulfil his mandate and prioritise the interests of Kenyans.

“What I know is that I won’t fail this test—I will emerge the winner,” he added.

The opposition has launched a campaign to make President Ruto a one-term president, with his former deputy Rigathi Gachagua leading the charge.
