Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen on Wednesday toured Isiolo Town for the ministry’s 14th Jukwaa la Usalama meeting of the counties.
His itinerary included getting a security briefing from the county security committee and assessing the delivery of key government services before holding a town hall meeting at the Isiolo Catholic Church.
Murkomen made a spot check of the ongoing mobile ID registration in the town, acknowledging that the residents have embraced the process.
“I was gratified to note the high number of young people turning up to take advantage of the service, which is free for first-time applicants,” he said
“We are committed to deepening our reforms to make government services accessible and affordable to all Kenyans without discrimination.”

During the meeting he addressed key security challenges in the region, among them banditry and cattle rustling, land disputes, and border security .
He said that the main aim of Jukwaa la Usalama
events is to strengthen governance structures, improve security mechanisms, and
enhance service delivery countrywide.
“We are also intensifying
our efforts to stamp out the crimes in some of the areas still facing the
challenge," he added.
The Isiolo tour comes days after a similar
engagement in the counties of Meru, Tharaka Nithi, and Embu, where the
proliferation of illicit brew, counterfeit and second-generation alcohol, land
disputes, and border conflicts emerged as key concerns.
