The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has announced a full-day traffic disruption along Limuru Road at the Aga Khan Primary School section.

In a public notice issued on Friday, KURA said the road will be closed from 00:00 hours to 23:59 hours on Sunday, May 11, 2025.

“The closure will allow contractors to install a footbridge deck at the site,” KURA said.

Motorists have been urged to use alternative routes as indicated in the official traffic diversion map.

The authority has also advised drivers to follow guidance from traffic marshals and police who will be on site throughout the day.

“We apologise for the inconvenience caused as we strive to Transform Urban Mobility,” reads the statement by Director General Silas Kinoti.

Alternative access to City Park Estate, Total Energies, and nearby roads will be maintained through designated diversions.

The footbridge project is part of a larger initiative aimed at improving road safety and pedestrian access.

On March 26, 2025, the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) detained several pedestrians for what they termed as failure to use footpaths and footbridges designated for them.

"Several pedestrians who failed to obey traffic rules were detained," NTSA said.

"Pedestrians must use available footbridges, walkways and other designated crossing points to ensure their safety."

NTSA urged pedestrians to observe and obey traffic rules to avoid any inconvenience.
