Government services to be more accessible - CS Ruku

Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to making public services more accessible and affordable for all citizens.

 Speaking during a public participation and engagement forum at Ciangera Market in Evurori, Mbeere North, Embu County, the CS emphasised that no citizen should bear unnecessary costs to access government services.

 He noted that his ministry will work towards decentralising services as part of efforts to actualise Article 232 of the Kenyan Constitution, which advocates for efficient, accessible, and citizen-focused service delivery.

 The CS vowed to ensure that those in marginalised areas have access to the services with ease.

Earlier last week, at a service he attended in  Matira-ini AIPCA Church in Konyu Ward, Mathira Constituency, Nyeri County, CS Ruku emphasised that the government values public feedback, adding that his ministry will continue engaging citizens directly to gather firsthand information.

“The Government takes feedback from Kenyans seriously, which is why we hold public participation in high regard. You will see me moving around the country to hear directly from the people," the CS said.

Ruku also made an impromptu visit to Huduma Centre in Thika on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.

He assessed the facility, noting various areas that needed improvement, emphasising the need to improve service delivery.

The CS has been making tours to different counties, outlining the reforms that he is going to make and the need to improve the public service sector for the benefit of the citizens of Kenya.

In addition, he emphasised that the ministry will closely cooperate with other departments to enhance effective services.
