Majority of Kenyans who have no confidence in the integrity of the 2027 elections cite political interference as their main reason, a survey shows.
The survey by Tifa Research said those who gave political interference as their explanation were 30 per cent of the respondents, while 29 per cent cited corruption and 23 per cent mentioned failures of the IEBC.
“It is clear that these three categories are somewhat overlapping as they all related to the integrity of the official results,” the survey said.
The poll was conducted between May 2 and May 6, 2025, involving 2,024 respondents.
It was conducted using Telephonic Interviews conducted (with respondents whose contacts were collected through face-to-face (i.e., household-based interviews) in Kiswahili and English.
The poll has a margin of error +/- 2.17%.
It covered nine regions, including Central Rift, Coast, Lower Eastern, Mt Kenya, Nairobi, Northern, Nyanza, South Rift and Western.
The survey added that seven per cent of the respondents named violence or insecurity as their reasons for doubting the integrity of 2027 elections.
Others mentions refusal of president or other candidates to accept defeat (two per cent), technology failures (two per cent), history of rigging (one per cent) and insufficient time to prepare for 2027 polls (one per cent).
The survey said five per cent of the respondents had not clear reason as to why they had no confidence with the integrity of 2027 polls.
