Murkomen said discussions centered on how to optimise security resources on the ground and recalibrate operations to achieve long-standing peace and security in the affected areas.

He said cases of banditry and cattle rustling have declined thanks to the security interventions the government has implemented in the Eastern and Rift Valley regions.
“We are, however, intensifying our efforts to stamp out the crimes in some of the areas still facing the challenge," he said.
The CS convened the meeting of the Eastern and Rift Valley Regional security teams together with the county security teams from Isiolo, Meru, Laikipia, Samburu and Marsabit.

The CS was joined by the DIG- Kenya Police Service, Eliud Lagat, Eastern Regional Commissioner Paul Rotich, Rift Valley Regional Commissioner Dr Abdi Hassan, Regional Police Commanders Charles Naibei and Jasper Ombati, Regional Administration Police Commanders Lusweti Barasa and John Amadadi among other senior ministry officials.
Also present were subcounty security teams, Assistant County Commissioners (ACCs), Officers Commanding Stations (OCSs), Chiefs and Assistant Chiefs from subcounties, which are still faced with banditry and cattle rustling concerns.
