President William Ruto has pledged to connect 10,000 households to electricity in Embu County.

He spoke while he flagged off electrification materials for the implementation of energy projects in the county, which are being carried out by the Rural Electrcity and Renewable Energy Corporation.

The president directed energy minister Opiyo Wandayi to set aside an additional Sh400 million to the already budgeted Sh580 million in order to achieve the electrification project target of connecting 10,000 homes to power.

The Sh580 million last-mile electricity connectivity project is set to benefit 6,500 households.

The president said that the government was ready to kickstart a total of 102 electrification projects, saying that he is committed to ensuring that every Kenyan has access to electricity by the year 2030.
