The push for sustainable electronic devices and the fast changing technologies are setting up phone manufactures for a clash with customers.

The delicate balance between ensuring devices last longer and the phone making companies continue to make sales has seen people with older phones denied some of the new features incorporated in newer devices.

OPPO Kenya Product Manager Ernest Teigut says that in the modern world it has become essential for cell phone manufacturers to become more sustainable by improving the lifespan of their products.

While at the same time bringing in new innovation to ensure new products meet new customer demands

This includes designing products that are durable and long-lasting, as well as offering repair and upgrade services to extend the lifespan of the product.

“Technology is changing fast and the need and performance of devices are evolving over a period of time, the lifeline of the devices is their operating system, for instance in the OPPO Reno 12 that we just launched. that’s why we try to bring the ultimate functionality at all moments of time,” said Teigut.

He says that for instance the new device series have taken steps to reduce the energy consumption of the products.

This he said is through the use of energy-efficient components and optimizing the software to reduce power consumption.

He was speaking at the sidelines of the launch of two new AI Phones – OPPO Reno12 and OPPO Reno12 F – that have introduced a suite of industry-leading GenAI features that are set to unlock new realms of productivity and creativity.

The two models represent a new chapter in the history of the popular OPPO Reno Series and the first major release under OPPO’s commitment to accelerate the adoption of AI Phones.

Both Reno12 and Reno12 F 5G feature a Futuristic Fluid Design and High-Strength Alloy Framework that create a stunning new look while ensuring the most robust design on the Reno Series phone yet with enhanced protection against drops, pressure, and water.

Powered by all new MediaTek Dimensity 7300-Energy mobile platform developed exclusively by MediaTek and OPPO, the Reno12 5G is set to deliver exceptional power efficiency for its users.

The cell phone industry has a significant environmental impact in the past, but many manufacturers are taking steps to become more sustainable.

By using recycled materials, reducing energy consumption, improving product lifespan, and improving recycling and e-waste management, cell phone manufacturers are reducing their carbon footprint and helping to create a more sustainable future.

For instance the devices combine OPPO’s 80W SUPERVOOCTM Flash Charge technology and the highest energy density 5,000mAh battery in Reno Series history.

The new Reno12 will ensure ultra-long battery life, lightning-fast charging, and up to four year’s optimal battery lifespan as the Reno Series continues to push the boundaries of practicality, durability, and trend-setting style.
