The appalling discovery of dead bodies dumped at a rubbish heap in Nairobi has sent shock waves in every corner of the nation.

The macabre findings come in the wake of 41 Gen Z protestors killed by the police for simply exercising their right to picket.

The police announced they are pursuing a number of leads, including ritual killings and organ harvesting gangs.

It beggars belief that the bodies were dumped near a police station. And as night follows day, senior police officers have lost no time in transferring police officers from the station. Standard knee-jerk reaction.

The police must get to the bottom of this heinous crime.

It is also instructive that at the start of his administration, President William Ruto announced that extrajudicial killings would be a thing of the past and that any officer who takes the law into their hands by perpetrating any atrocity, under the guise of maintaining law and order, will be held responsible as an individual.

Quote of the day: "Only during hard times do people come to understand how difficult it is to be master of their feelings and thoughts."

The Russian playwright and short-story writer died on July 15, 1904
