Two men who went missing during anti-government protests in Mombasa have been found dead.

Denis Otieno, 26,  was found dead with three bullet wounds.

Otieno had been missing for about 15 days with attempts by his mother Coleta Achieng and uncle George Omondi to reach out to him via phone calls proving futile.

The family members shockingly came to discover his demies via social media.

They travelled from Kitale to Mombasa, where they claim they found his body at a morgue.

“Mtoto amepigwa risasi tatu. Hata tunashindwa risasi moja hainge muuwa? Na serikali kweli hakuna hatua inaweza chukuwa (Our son has been shot  and we are wondering was one bullet not enough? Cant the government take action?” Omondi said in an interview with Citizen Tv.

The family maintains that their son was not among the protesters and as such, he did not deserve to die.

Denis, the family says, arrived in Mombasa less than a year ago after he secured employment in the Coastal town.

“Serikali naomba haki, mtoto aliuwawa kama kuku. Mtoto hakuwa kwa maandamano. Aliuwawa akirudi  nyumbani akitoka kazini,” Achieng, the mother, said.

Loosely translates to: "I pleading for justice, my son was murdered like a chicken. My son was not part of protesters. He was killed while going home after work".

Joash Ombati's family is also in mourning after they found his body in the same facility morgue.

The family says he had missing for 10 days prompting them to travel from Kisii to Mombasa to look for him.

Upon arriving at the morgue, they found his body which had a single bullet wound.

“Aliniacha nyumbani akija kutafutia familia. Nimeambiwa amepigwa risasi. Sahii watoto sijui wataishi aje. Sina mbele wala nyuma. Babake ndio tegemeo kwa hiyo nyumba,” Lilian Ombati, the wife, said.

(He left me home to come here to search for a job in order to feed his family. I have been told he was shot. I dont know how the kids will live. I have no way out of this situation. He was the sole breadwinner)

Rapid Response Officer at Haki Afrika, Mathias Shipeta said IPOA have taken over the matter.

“Tulipata hiyo risasi (Found in Ombati's body). Ipoa wamechukua risasi moja iliopatikana kwa mwili wa marehemu na itasaidia kwa uchunguzi (They have taken one bullet that was found in the body of the deceased which will help with investigations).”
